Damned inspiring Carl!

I've always been a very moderate gym-rat, fitness more than fun, but since turning 60 I have learned to lean in and gear up. Only discovered the word 'sarcopenia' at 60 (age-related muscle loss), and the fact that fully 50% of women 50+ in the UK have osteoporosis. Prevention is my new mantra. I'm probably fitter now than i've ever been. Lots of strength training, yoga, and walking (aided by a new puppy on her way to us next month!).

Love it! You're a walking-talking role model. Think how much better we'd all live and age if we worked our bodies harder at every stage. Puppy optional!

Sad to say many age related conditions such as osteoporosis go undetected so the 50% of women in the UK with the condition may well be a conservativeestimate. In reality I suspect it's far higher. Bone density scans aren't offered as routine once you hit a certain age. I think you're spot on to aim for prevention

Prevention is always miles better than cure. And the best part about exercise is that once you find a version that works for you it ceases to feel like bitter medicine and becomes a pleasure you can't live without....

When I was a little girl, I dreamed of being a ballerina. That dream didn't come true, yet I have danced my whole life, and have no plans to stop anytime soon.
